Fishing... in Magaluf?

Hi.

So I'm away for a stag do in Magaluf this weekend and I just found out there's a footie match on this Saturday.... doh!! I hate football so Im thinking I'll bring a telescopic rod with me and wet a line for 90 or so minutes with a couple of cheeky drinks in the sun, maybe out on a hired boat or pedalo. :D

Just wondered a) Would I be wasting my time, b) what could I catch (obviously just for sport), and c) what tactics should I use? I'm thinking just taking a selection of floats, BB's and small hooks from my coarse fishing gear, but if there's a chance of spinning or something then I'd rather know in advance and take the necessary gear.

Any help appreciated!

All the best

Steve

Try googling it mate im sure youll catch something i was catching garfish and mullet in turkey on bread

Yeah I tried googling it but Im at work at the min so lots of forums are blocked (apart from this one, which is good! :D ). I'll have a proper look later on, just thought it would be a good read in the mean time since its quiet on here at the minute due to the awful weather. :(

I've never caught a mullet before, but I hear they give a canny fight on light gear?

Aye they do mate all its like trout when they want to run they will run

If you can find a local (foreigner) 1 of them may be able to help/sort you out
Yip its quiet on here at the moment the weather has put everyone off a think
Just wait till the winter season kicks off properly

I had a go when i was in magaluf a few years ago. I just fished off some rocks, using sweetcorn as bait under a small bubble float. I caught mullet, bream and a strange yellow fish. When i was watching the locals, they were groundbaiting with mushed up bread and floating a large piece above it. They were catching some big fish this way. All the small fish were eating the bread, then there would be a big splash and a large fish would take the bait. Think they were using treble hooks aswell.

Nice one, well I'd like to get into a mullet or two then! Think I'll try the 'bread groundbaiting' tactic and see what happens. Cheaper than a bag o' rag thats for sure!! ;) So hooks-wise, I'll bring a few smallish coarse fishing hooks and a couple of bigger trout hooks, see what works best.

Now I suppose I should look up on Google images and see what a mullet looks like! :red:

Cheers.

Steve
