Fishing over the winter months?

After a close shave of needing to sell Wor boat due to work commitments, finally got things sorted so no need to sell anymore. So mind back on the the boat and was wondering if anyone still ventures out over the winter months. I know quite a few just berth up for the winter but there is always a few canny winters days where I thought it would be with a trip out.

One rod uptiding and one rod downtide Mark, i've had some good days over the winter months, anchored up 500 yards out, coffee in hand and chilled out...give it a go mate..

Cheers Chris. Sad to hear you sold up pal, but what a reason to do it. Top man, I would of done the same thing. Hope you get sorted again in the near future.

Aye, some things have to be done, but for the time being i'm hitting the beaches, new rod tmoro I'm pleased you are keeping the boat, its a good one and they take some finding, use it during the winter Mark, there are some nice days to be had......Look forward to the uptide reports....

It was the last thing I wanted to do pal, love it when I get out there, nowt better. Just pleased I got things sorted with graft to keep it. Be out again as soon as there is a break in the weather.

where do u launch from? im out of blyth but worked away a lot this summer

Go out of cullercoats pal. Just launch from there, take it your moored up at Blyth?

No got the rib at secure storage park, just trailer it down to blyth boat yard. Not a bad place to launch from.

Prob see you out there sometime. Think I'll do what Chris suggests, anchor up fish 500m off, have a cuppa put my feet up and enjoy being back oot.

I Mark, glad you got sorted. The advice from Chris is sound. There will be some good winter days, but the fishing can be ok or poor, but like said, close in with big smelly baits, a mesh bag with crushed muscles weighted on the bottom in a bit tide run will get the fish interested. If there's not much doing there, just anchor out of casting distance of either Tyne piers for codling or whiting.

Aye Arthur, hit and miss like you say, the big smelly baits advice is spot on.. a dying sea and big tide seemed to work better for me, sit back and let the fish come to you...
