you can fish as far up as the white house on the ryton side of the river without a license.

not as many flatties further up river as there would be at the aa business park or down by the copthorne hotel

thanks for the replies. thats handy, i live in ryton. so i can just pop down there if i just fancy a couple of hours fishing instead of driving to the coast, good to know. thanks again for the replies

Fished Copthorne, British Airways Car park scotswood park area and there's no need for a licence. Some lads from work fished the British Airways cap park last year with some surprising results. Flatties by dozen:)

Tyne

Tyne

DONT FORGET FROM NEWBURN BRIDGE most of the bank fishing is controled ie northumberland angling fed dunn family close house

You also need to remember that even if you do fish as far up as you can any species like trout, sea trout, salmon etc must be put back unless you have a rod license.

At Tyne Riverside Country Park at Newburn. The TAA (Tyne Anglers Alliance) controls the fishing on both banks of the Tyne.

I live in greenside so not far from you when I was younger I lived in throckley and was always fishin below the bridge ryton side at the rowing club
Had a canny few flatties small stuff like but trout sea trout and eels also come in from there , if you want to fish for flatties go to the business park on scotswood road or behind kfc near the metro centre from the wooden platform and u will catch flatties whiting eels and small codling

Ive actually been eyeing that wooden platform up pretty much everyday i go over scotswood bridge, will definately give it a try, thanks for the info

As you drive down chainbridge road on your way to scotswood bridge turn left into arco and follow it past arco and under the bridge !
Av had sum beltin flattie sessions on there and doesn't matter what the weather or tides are it near enough always fishes well
