Just a few images from a recent session way up north.
My first shore caught Haddock, one of many in the first night (probably in excess of 20, some to 3lb)
Loads of whiting, they get everywhere
but with fish to 2lb + who cares
Even the dab are of a good average size, a 2lb dab is considered as nothing special.
This one at well over 1lb swallowed a 6/0 big mouth xtra.
Plenty of cod
Some a good size
Some even better
All this and a ready supply of bait right at your feet......
Loads of herring...
Whale watching as well....
and amazing sunset/sunrise, well its difficult to say which as the sun sets and rises almost at the same time (24 hrs daylight).
And still time to catch my first ever fish on the fly (OK, I know its only small but what the hell its a start).
Clearly its way up north................ Iceland in fact. Must say a big thank you to Peter Thain, who guided me round the marks and the Island. After 3 nights of fishing (working during the day) I was knackered and almost (but not quite) looking forward to the flight to Norway where I could at least get a few hrs kip to catch up with myself.
I would recommend Peter and Steve's Icelandic Fishing Adventures, these guys probably know more about shore fishing in Iceland than anyone else alive (non of the locals bother too much with bait fishing from the shore its all lure fishing up there), they don't know what they are missing, although I think they may be coming round to it soon.
Check out http://www.dreamfish.is Give it a go, you know it makes sense.
Cheers
