Fishing Weymouth and beach shelters.

Never really been a fan of beach shelters. Probably because we seem to cover a lot of beach when we fish in the North East. But by god they are essential when fishing the beaches around Weymouth such as Chesil.
High shingle beaches with deep water close in.
And when the rain and wind comes - and it did for two days of our recent comp they are a godsend. I knew I should have bought a one to take down.

Was never without mine (winter and summer) when fishing the Solent and Sussex shingle (and Chesil) for the 20 years I was in exile down south. Not only keep the wind and rain off in winter but keep the sun off your bait in summer and give a nice organised base camp to fish from.

Feeling old now so thinking of getting a new one, plenty of the beaches I usually fish will be fine from a shelter like the Goldsie

I was looking for a Ron Thompson but unable to find any. There is a Video on Sandmans tackle of the lad putting an Imax one up and down and they are a breeze.

No need to buy a shelter, just don't fish those marks in those conditions.

We would have caught as many fish sitting in the pub than fishing those beaches in those awful conditions.

I would say it was crap but it wasn't even that good.

On a brighter note my headlamp has now mysteriously came back to life after it went mental switching itself on/off randomly after a 5 hour drenching in torrential rain on preston beach.
