Fladen Maxximus Solid Carbon Rod

I'm thinking about getting one. I only boat fish a couple of times a year so was wondering if they are a general purpose rod. I think a couple of lads on here have had them a while(Wallsendo, Keith?), so was after a report after owning them a year or so. And also if anyone has used the new green 8' version

A year on and mine (7ft Green 20-50lb Class) is still going strong - it's well battered and bruised to be honest but I still love it :)

It doesn't look like it could cope with much when you first look at it but it's been used with pirks/leads up to 1lb with fish on and it handles snags well - I'd say it fishes best at 10ozs though IMO

As to general purpose - I would say yes...delicate enough for the lighter fishing and yet can take a hammering on the wrecks

Mine's so battered in fact that it's going to need a full re-build after this year is done as the varnish is starting to peel and crack - could be a build weakness and prob is but then it did take a hammering last year so I can't complain too much :D

Steve now has one as well...;)

Hope this helps

Cracking rod John, only slight worry I've had is I've felt the butt section flex while snagged but I was holding it with one hand, just make sure you support it above the reel when snagged.

Cheers Tony & Keith. The hunt begins, I think Billy's got them in. I'll have a quick internet trawl first.

try the bigger boyes stores ...they are selling loads of fladen gear dirt cheap...junior solid ice / pike rods with reel are only £9.99......

Just to let you know I got myself an 8' 20-50 lb on fleabay for £35 (plus a tenner postage)!
Quite pleased with the price.

Just have to wait until 22May to Christen it (hopefully)
Thanks again for your advice
