Yes, but in general most people aren't keen on the flavour, bit of a poor fish for eating.
As far as I know, the only fish that visits our waters that you cannot eat is the Sunfish (Mola Mola), parts of it's flesh contains toxins, but of course the nutty Japanese and Taiwanese still make food and medicines from parts of it!
Its best to cook them the Rex Hunt way.
Heat a big pan filled with 3 gallon of water, put in Flounder and a brick.
Keep it boiling till the Flounder dissappears........
Try soaking the cleaned fish in a mix of lemon juice and water for a couple of hours .After a couple of hours discard the water and wash the fish in fresh cold water;dry on a paper towel and grill or pan fry the fish, serve with rice and peas,or boiled new potatoes.
The lemon juice/water seems to remove the muddy taste.
I've tried all ways of cooking them, but they still always taste like soggy cardboard. Next time I catch one, I think I'll try painting some red spots on. Plaice are a very nice fish to eat.................now does a few red spots make such a difference to the taste ???
