fluorocarbon - what's the crack?

Hello people, I was wondering if anyone has used fluorocarbon as a main line? This is with float fishing in mind. I've used mono and braid, found mono twists up too much and braid just shreds as soon as it sees a rock. The carp people seem to be saying that fluorocarbon is pretty much the best of both worlds, being super supple and highly abrasion resistant.
I've only seen it mentioned in sea fishing circles as a spinning leader, I thought I might try filling a reel with it..
Any opinions / advice?

its a tad expensive to fill the reel with i used it a lot for fly fishing buzzers not lures for its wear capabilities i will never no as its just the first 20 feet fluro,,,supposed to be invisible in the water, but lets be honest a fish taken bait on a 5/0 hook and 30 ib line aint gana bother wi invisible

Wouldn't bother. Fill with clear nylon and use fluro for a leader or hook length under a float. It's a stiffer line and more expensive and the only real advantage will be at the business end.

Don't see a real advantage on the float but have seen it prove better in really clear water when I've been floating for mackerel.
