hi im going to fonburn res on sunday any tips i would be gratefull im taking my fly rod i know in spring ye meant to use black and green flies but whats the fish been taking on? im fairly new to flyfishing just a novice really i wana catch my first trout on fly any help i would apreciate thanks

Never fly fished fontburn m8 but would imagine its like any stocked water. Try black fritz and a dawson olive to start with. Dont stick to one method try slow retrives and pulling the lure through the water fast. Just keep trying differen flies till you find what the fish are interested in. If the sun comes out and the weather warms up try small wet flies. I just started fly fishing at christmas so im no expert but just keep trying something different and enjoy the day

hi mate, you could use, cats whiskers, montana, apps blood worm, buzzer, if fish are rising try small dries like midges etc
