Pondering a trip up there tomorrow evening to fish the beach on the tide up. Never fished there before so just looking for tips. Is anywhere on the beach ok or any tips for particular places.
Any advice appreciated.
Robbo you've just posted on the other page, how you scout out the rock mark in daylight to find the best ways on and off andsee any dodgy places etc.Now your saying youre off to Foxton in the dark where youve never been.Just co's it's beach doesn't mean it's trouble free, which it usually is.Accidents have a way of showing you how vulnerable we are.

Very true
I've fished & won a comp up there in memory of a bloke who sadly drowned on that beach a good few years back mind
Fish the place regularly & beach usually out fishes the rocks
& scouting it out makes good sense I know where there's a good hole at Northern end of beach it's hard to find unless you actually see where it is for yourself
With a sea on you can see where the waves don't break- they roll where the hole is
& it usually holds fish you've just got to cast into it

Who drowned on that beach?
Read the post again marra.
Said I'd never fished there and asked for info on the mark. Been on Foxton beach more times than I can shake a stick at trying to work out where to go when I finally fish it, gauging the tides etc.. Fairly featureless beach, hence asking the question about marks. I never fish anywhere I haven't scouted out or tried in the daylight first.
As it happens I also set up for just after 3:00pm to also get the lie of the land. (It was weeded off so wrapped very early).
Virtually anywhere along the beach at Foxton will fish. I have had good bags below the steps to the north below the green hut on the golf course and also the blue hut further south toward fluke hole. As the tide drops there is a channel runnning in between the beach and a sandbar where the fish feed as well as numerous holes and rocks.
The downside is that it does often weed up after a bla.
The competition was the Ned Farrington....Dick Taylor is still going strong thankfully

Would you fish on the flood or ebb mate?

Ha ha Sorry mr Taylor.
Don't know where I got that name from. It just sounded familiar
Interesting point about the holes on the beach and he waves tend to not roll over them. Often wondered how you know if not checked out at low water.
Mick.
One word of caution regarding the holes....They are dotted all over the beach at LW and constantly change....Never march out into the surf to cast as the tide drops right back....Safer to edge forward like some kind of angling Cha Cha Cha than to end up neck deep in water or worse!
