freezers

gone thro a few fridge freezers recently lost bait like a few of us, any help appreciated my fridge freezer is outside in the garage it is detached from house, i got this fridge freezer off friend and was in working , its just i have just gone in garage today and bait in freezer is defrosting this has happened before with other freezers mainly when the temp drops as now, has anyone else encountered this prob just fed up with these sickerners

hi there belive it or not a fridge or freezer works twice as hard if out in the cold as it works on a heated vacum to make it cold so ya fridge works harder there and so does your electric

might be better off putting freezer in bedroom can look after it better in there, its a pain babysitting crabs freezing them then the freezer goes off my mate has just took them he says he is going to fish them i personaly would,nt have any confidence in them now what a sickerner

Another idea is to get one of those small greenhouse heaters.
All they do is keep the chill out the air and don\'t cost a lot to run.
I have never used them for this reason but the father in law used them a lot and as i am getting my shed wired up i was thinking of doing this.

sounds like a good idea lowrider someone says to me it could be the thermostat sopposed to be cheap???????, i had freezers years ago and this never happened. best bet sounds like finding somewhere indoors for bait freezer thanks for help

There is something called a thermo tube that keeps the chill out of the air. I have a couple in the shed just to stop the tools from rusting in the winter.
Basicly it looks like a length of drain pipe with a electric element in side and a plug on the end, Boblydon might be able to advise you better but knowing him he will have some sooper dooper baxi 9000kw 7 rad system in his shed, ha ha

John i have a freezer in my concrete outhouse and have never had any problems in the 3 years it`s been there and it gets pretty cold in the winter in there.

Don\'t know anything of the mechanics BUT I have been told that a combined fridge/freezer works off one thermostat so if it goes you lose the lot! Advice received has been to use a stand alone freezer only.

Well if where you live is anythign where i live you need need a freezer at the moment, its 12.40pm and the frost is still thick on the ground and roofs.

The fridge freezer works off the fridge thermostat so if the temprature in your outhouse get to around the 1-2 degree mark then it will switch off, including the freezer compartment, until it warms up a bit. problem is there designed for a warm houses. I think the newer fridge freezers have separate thermostats now.
