Well at least it will be better than the jet ski idea.....if you do get one i am sure i dont need to tell you how dangerous they could be and best to go with others as you already said..good luck.

little man, you gettin a kayak is like an arsonist gettin a box of matches, and wen she finds out she'll smash your other hand:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

still thinking of one mesel scotty, could gan out together in the summer, tie em up on the drift n that :) by the looks you could have everything for 400 quid ish which is nout really compared to a boat, you don't have to gan out miles if you're not comfortable like.

ozzy mate stick at least another £1000 on ya £400:exclam::exclam:

iv'e seen full second hand outfits with everything for 4-500 quid? unless there's a launching fee of a grand I don't know about

ha ha scottys buying from moonfleet not second hand:)

£500 second hand seems a great price considering what a full set up might consist of:exclam:

yak
paddle
launching trolley
roof bars for vehicle
dry suit
life jacket
protective clothing
compass
marine radio
instuction on how to get back into a rolled yak
optional gps/depth sounder
waterproof bag for gear

Been looking at yak for awhile I've priced everything up new and used from new I was looking at 1400 quid second hand was gonna be 4-600 quid for yak then you've got a dry suit to get which can run from 200-500 quid.look on anglers. Afloat and see how much lads sell there's for.

I just meant a setup to get you out fishing, yak, radio, paddle; the likes of trolleys, drysuits, fancie clothing, depth finders are all expensive extras. i'm only thinkin of using it the odd boilin hot day up scotland in safe areas, im not as serious as yous lot. got a few things already that would keep the price down for the rest; like life jacket, wetsuit, roof rack and already qualified in kayaking.

cool, your biggest challenge has swiftly turned from finance and equipment to finding this boiling hot day:D:D:D:D:D

ps wet suits aint worth a tuppeny jot for yakkers in this country,so im told

Good advice from lingking ,could save someones life. The most essential items in my opinion based on over 6yrs and over 200 launches are a drysuit with suitable clothing underneath to suit the water temp not air temp ,in case of immersion. The most essential being a pfd [ personal floatation device] .Another being a vhf radio in case the sh$t hits the fan.First few session should be in a relatively safe environement get used to yak without fishing gear etc to get tangled up in, practice re-entrys etc.............Dave. ps lots of good/sound advice on anglers afloat website which has a for sale section,
