Glasto 2007

Anyone out there going to this years festival?

me and my partner jill have been talking about it for a while but it seems that every half decent festival has been taken over by the media and the whole thing has been spoilt. last year we did the wickerman and what a great weekend we had.
i stoped going to the likes of reading when the mean fidler promoters went and the big boys jumped on the wagon. i cant be chewed with radio 1 presenters and there crap saying ooh arn't the likes of the red hot chili peppers a fantastic band i have loved them for so long. its funny some of these presenters wenr't even born when they started.
sorry for going off on one lol :):).
i would still like to go to glasto just to have a mooch though and to see how big it actually is .
the motorbike rallies like the farmyard this weekend, the minehoff mcc rally in scotland and stormin the castle in sept are my festivals this year. stormin has UFO and the quireboys on this year so not a bad line up.:)

cheers

I agree with what you say about Radio 1 - especially Jo Whiley...."oooh listen to this GREAT new band, they're called Wank Sock under Your Pillow and they're gonna be bigger than the Beatles"...she's so sh*t!!!!!

me and the missus will be going this year and it's our second time, and it is HUGE - all we did was walk and stand (coz the fields were wet two years ago) - we were knackered when we came back. It is quite corporate but prob still worth a look...and like i said the area to have a look round is massive so there's plenty to see....it's funny as hell to see the whole cross section of society and you do meet some quality people.

It's basically the Hoppins but about 1000 times bigger!!!

Glastonbury lost its way years ago. I used to be friends with Michael Evis, but its now nothing more than money making, glasto grossess between 10 and 20 million a year! Add in the hard core, get wasted, lift anything thats not nailed down, scumbag rave culture from essex and it can be a hideous experience

If you want a good laid back festival, try the cambridge folk festival - its not just folkies singing with their finger in their ears, its a good mixture of folk, folk rock, blues, world music and a few indie bits n bobs. you get 10 or 20 thousand there, so big but not gargantuan

usually 3 to 5 coppers for the whole event who live in a caravan on the site for the duration and can usually be found getting mashed in the Guinness tent from 6pm onwards!

brilliant for families with kids, cheaper than glastonbury too

closer to home, there's a canny mini festival in weardale - thimbleberry - 2 to 4000 people, bit of a mix of everything and 40 quid all in for the full 3 days

wallsend i hope you and the missus have a great time, some of the stories from mates who have gone in the past have been great, a mate of mine went down in the eighties just on a spur of the moment thing, he got a lift with a load of lads he knew from morpeth and as they were nearing the gate they hid him under all the trays and cans of beer so he could sneak in but unfortunatley they asked the van to be emptied but they saw the funny side:)

mark the wickerman is a canny laid back festival up kirkcudbright way, quite chilled out not many police but i wish there had been last year when me and jill were burgled, the police could not have done much but the security that was meant to do the campsite pulled out less than 24 hrs before the start of the weekend. still it was a canny weekend minus a bit of cash

cheers

Shine on you Crazy Diamonds!!!

Shine on you Crazy Diamonds!!!

Cheers Mate

Yeah - should be cosmic....we were worried about thefts and radgies last time but we never saw any trouble when we were there....

At the end of the day everyone there has paid a fortune just to be there - so why ruin it and be a tit?

There's always a minority who ruin things - both in life and in fishing !!!
