This years festival started for us last thursday, had some mates going down on the Wed and they had kindly taken our tent to pitch up in advance...so all that was left for us to do was to turn up and start drinking the cider
After a very early start we got there for about 1130...to find our freinds had chosen a quality spot with exceptional panoramic views of the site...
That kinda set the tone early on - this was going to be a good year
The rest of the day was a chill out day with lots of Pear Cider and the like being imbibed...we took to the Jazz World field as this was where the Brothers Cider bar was...numerous pints later and paper cup limbo (no pic
) we called it a day in readiness for the revelry that was about to begin
Friday - up for 0930...mate was Mess Chef with Bacon Sangas and a hot brew for the team....the drinking started at midday
Fridays bands: The Feeling, The Gossip (very very good surprisingly), the Fun Lovin Criminals, The Fratellis, Kings of Leon
Top start to the weekend - could it get better?
Saturday - up for 0930...I was Mess Chef with bacon and scrambled eggs followed by obligatory hot tea...the drinking started a little later at 1230
Saturdays bands: (Had intended to get up early enough to see Shaking Stevens but decided against it for some reason
) So started with Seasick Steve (not the Sixfoot variety) who was excellent, Crowded House who again were very good...decided to give James Blunt a miss (wonder why?) and we all headed back to the tent for some scran, back to the Pyramid stage for some Manu Chao who got the party mood back on track with some South American rhythm...me and the lass did not see Jay Z - instead we went to the Other Stage and watched Hot Chip then Massive attack...both very good indeed
Saw some strange sights over by the Other Stage...
Sunday - up for similar time although things are slowing down at this point due to Vodka, Cider etc etc
...didn't start drinking until about 1530
Decided on a wander to see the sights hitherto missed out on IE the weird hippy stuff
Saw this sign on the way - didn't know what it meant and genuinely thought it was just random (do a google
)
Also found the perfect boat for Richie

Eventually got back to the Pyramid Stage for about 1530 (with Cider in hand) in preparation for the afternoons viewing
Sundays bands: John Mayer, Neil Diamond
, Goldfrapp, Leonard Cohen (surprisingly very good) and then the Grande Finale - The Verve...maybe it was the beer, cider and Vodka but for me they were the best act of the whole weekend (trumping Big Neil only by a small margin)
Neil Diamond...
Sunset setting over the crowd...
This pic tickled me for some reason...
Weather was great all in all - bit of rain and mud on the friday but in general it was warm and dry which makes a huge difference to morale...I would say out of the 3 I've been to this is the best so far...until next year

Cheers
