Going over to the MOG on Sunday

We have decided to go over this Sunday to our caravan on the Clashwhannon Caravan Park,Drummore and open it for the season. Will stay a week if the weather is ok.

To be honest its not really worth wetting a line till May over there. The thing is I have not fished since we closed the van last October and am itching to have a couple of sessions out!!

I sussed out a new shore mark last year to try for pollack and will try there if the weather allows. All I use for pollack over there is spinning gear and a variety of lures/plastics. There are some strong tide rips along the Mull shores so am planning to try a new technique through these rips over the summer.

Will take a camera with me on the off chance I can induce a take !!!! A report MAY follow LOL

Good luck John. We be interested in how clear the water is over there as we are thinking of heading over next weekend for an early scout about.

You got my mob no Broony ? Will PM it you now. Giz a shout midweek and I can update you on the water clarity/fishing. I know last year I tried a few early sessions aroung Logan and the water was like pea soup !!!! Did not even get a bite :-(

Spent the first few days sorting out the caravan ready for the season. Intended fishing but the water was filthy on both sides of the Mull so lure bashing was a non starter :-(

Pal of mine on the site boat fished out from Logan yesterday and got doggies, spurs up to 10lb and small whiting. Sorry thats as good as the report gets.

On a brighter note managed to photograph a nice sunrise from our veranda. This is a panoramic view and I "stitched" 4 panned photos together for this.

Looking forward to May when I will start fishing over there in earnest

not a bad veiw to wake up to

Do you know of anyone on that site who rents their vans out mate? could fancy maybe 3 nights over there in maybe july for myself, the lady and the (clean housetrained) hound.[/QUOT

The caravan owners are not allowed to hire out their vans on the Clashwhannon site. Martin and Louise have 5 hire vans for rent though. See Holiday Homes And Caravans, Clashwhannon Caravan Park, Drummore, Galloway, Scotland

I think they may allow dogs in their budget van but you will have to check with them. There is also a small area where camping is allowed, not sure what the charge is. Hope this helps.

There are a few more b and bs in Drummore,I can dig out some numbers if anyone is interested. Also harbour cottages for rent and wood cabins at Ardwell.

I enquired to Clashwhannon at the beginning of the year but they were closed and Martin replied with...

"a few good B&B in the village which I can recommend called Westfield ,Tory Cottage or Driftwood."

No phone numbers I'm afraid
