Fished from nine till three today ended up a fish a cast going from 15cms up to 37 cms which was the biggest weighing just under two pound also to my surprise six common eels which where big in total which the eels I had twenty fish all taken on fresh crab and all fish and eels where released to fight another day

All the fish caught where codlings I was surprised I did not catch any flatties and them eels are horrible when you are trying to unhook them and they are trying to wrap themselves around your hand and arm

Aye was up the river Tyne lovely day

Me and my mate fished near the business park, on the grass bank yesterday and had practically an eel a chuck for about 5 hours

Not one flattie which was a surprise

Take a load of newspaper with you, makes unhooking the eels much easier

No don't take a load of newspaper to help unhook eels. This removes
the slime, which is essential for their survival.
Eel stocks have been in severe decline for some time now in the UK,
and are a protected species,it is in fact, illegal to keep them.
The best way to remove them,is to grab the hook,if visible with pliers, and the
eel will generally shake itself free.If the hook has been swallowed,or the
eel is tangling itself up in the trace, cut the trace up with scissors, until the eel
is free, and don't worry about the hook,as eels are somehow able to rid
themselves of swallowed hooks.Return them to the water with a wet cloth,
and they should be ok.
Eels may not be everyones cup of tea,but they still deserve respect.;)

Learn something new every day.

Do they not reproduce the slime ?

And will they die if you unhook them with paper. They seem pretty durable to me like
