Could be the antenna, do you know anyone that could lend you one, just so you can rule it out :question: Hope its not the plotter itself mate...

hi mate before you pull anything apart try a system restore you will lose your saved marks some times when gps not used for a while it some times does not reconise antenna had the same problem with my raymarine gps after restore everything sweet, your manuel should tell how to do it.
Thanks bluejasper, I last used the unit about a month ago, without any problems, but in the link Chris (Jester) posted, I noticed that the module that came with the unit is one of the earlier ones. the whole unit is at least 10-12yrs old so maybe it is in need of an update. I'll check that out as well. cheers.

Arthur if you have had it 10 to 12 years you have done excellent out of it as they are well known to go iffy on people and lowrance knew there was a problem but in the uk did nothing, search around on the net and you will see in america lowrance gave lots of updated antennas out as they wouldnt stand for it

Thanks for that Sean. I've only had it about 3 years, it came with the boat, so that's only an estimation. I really need someone to check it over and diagnose the problem and see if it is worth spending money on replacement parts. When I bought the boat, the seller said the lowrance cost nearly £3000. new

hi canman go on ebay type in raymarine repair , this brings up the repair centre fixed price repair for all types and makes £64.95 have used these before they phone you straight away tell you what is wrong , if it is going to
cost any more you are informed and asked to agree on repair or have it returned to you,they then refund your money less postage if not fixed.very good company:red::red::red:
