On Saturday 31st, the wind was blowing hard from the west and we nearly called it off. However, we decided to throw out the drogue and drift the ground close in to Sandy Bay. The four man crew each picked up decent cod on every drift and although the cod were mostly around 3lb we got a couple to 9lb. We threw dozens of small cod back which certainly bodes well for the future and I guess we landed approx 50 keepers of which most were returned.
On Sunday 1st, it was blowing quite hard so with a 5 man crew we initially drifted the same ground without catching a single fish!!!
The wind dropped before lunch so we headed out to some distant wrecks (divers on the near wrecks) and had a bumper day with several cod and Ling in double figures. We ended the session with well over 50 fish landed and I have to say that this season must go down as one to remember.
