Im off to the lakes at the weekend with the lass. Just wondering what the crack is for fishing them? Was thinkin of slying the spinning gear into the boot without her seeing.

The hotel we are staying in is called the waterside right on the banks of grasmere. Was wondering what the crack is for fishing? Is there designated areas? Is it fly only or bait? Can i spin etc?

there are plenty of pike in grasmere - windermere and rydal water, [course licence required] i would be supprised if the place you,re staying does,nt have a bit of info for you. plugging and spinning will be ok, as well as SEA dead baits, such as macky -sprats - launce and similar.

cheers lads,

I've just spoke to the hotel manager and he reckons if i take my spinning gear i'll catch pike all day under the over hangin trees. The hotel even have a boat i can use free of charge! I can't wait, i'll try get some pictures up next week.

Sounds spot on mate. Enjoy your holiday, make sure the missus doesn,t drop the oars when she,s rowing.:D
Hope you hit a big pike.

Mick.

Im off to Ambleside on thursday with the mrs ,might just take the gear over and have a go in lake windermere...

windermere

windermere

windermere has some big pike ,--- if you can find ,em - but its a big lump of water. grasmere and rydal water both have plenty of pike and the hot spots are a bit easier to suss out , being smaller. the top end of windermere has one or two good places near ambleside, but better away from waterhead which is over run with tourists. if you ring carlsons tackle shop in kendal they MIGHT be able to help you 01539724867. i live in kendal - 15 minutes away from windermere but avoid the lakes till things "settle down" later on.
