I know it's not what you have asked for but the Shakespeare Salt Extreme Bass rod 11' 6" 2 to 4 oz is only £57-99 delivered from NETS eBay store and they're a great little rod.
I've not fished a BZE but I do have the newer Greys GRSX Bass which is just stunning.
That said, if I didn't have the Greys I'd still be very happy with the Salt. It can throw a long way with a good sized bait but it's still good for float fishing and spinning as well.
Don't know if it helps but I'm often out between Blyth down to Tynemouth and you'd be welcome to try it if you're not sure about one.
Good luck finding a BZE - I hear good things about them.

thanx for the offer m8 much apreiated but after a bze i did have one last year but caught tip of it in car door and lost about 4ich off top lol
