Greys triplex

Done a lot of reading AGAIN and it seems these are popular with the Yorkshire/Whitby lads for the old braid, even in heavy ground and the cliffs at Bemton/flam. What's your thoughts ?

i've used the 16fter on some of the local rough ground marks this year and find it ok where you have a decent depth of water. i've had fish to 5lb on it and its brought them in no bother, except when your on the shallower weed marks that only require a short plop it can be hard work, even just reeling your rig in through the tangles with such a soft rod can be a chew on.
but saying that i like mine its nice and easy to use and can fire a bait out a long way with a basic cast but it has its limitations on certain marks and conditions and would probably leave it at home on those occasions but that's just me, everyone's different

I got a Penn Affinity for the same job on the recommendation of one of the top lads down at Whitby. It was great but I found it a bit top heavy and kind of wooly feeling perhaps due to the softness through the rod. I am much happier with the T-1000 I use now for braid.

I don't know how they do it, me and a mate fished ryhope cliffs yesterday which are only 20/30ft high and he uses a m4 Evo with braid and that would not lift 3lb dead up the cliff he had to run around and get it.

The biggest fish I have reeled up the cliffs up to now on the T-1000 was only 5lb but to be honest that was a doddle. No drama at all.

Don't know how what does it ? The triplex ? From what I've read and been told they can and do mate. These lads have tried just about everything to do with braid.

Yea I have been told they do it but from seeing my mates m4 Evo look like the letter c from 3 lb and still not lift it, I wouldn't be using one lol
