Hall Beach 11 Sept

Fished the flood this afternoon almost up to top water, left at around 19:30. Still a decent sea on and a bit of weed catching the line. Couldn't hold initially with 6oz so upped it to 7 which was Ok. Sea eased a bit later in the afternoon. I guess it's the shape of the beach but when I first got there an hour into the flood waves were breaking way out beyond my casting range stirring up a lot of weed. Later on as the tide lifted the breakers were close to the beach so it was east to get the line clear of them. Some lads arrived towards the end and set up on the Prom itself which I will remember for next time. But if I had done that when I started it would have been a 50 yard chuck plus to reach the water :)

Used lug, crab and mussell in various combinations on a 3/0 pulley rig. Caught a few undersize codling, plus one which will be on the menu for tonights tea. I might have put it back but it was hooked way down and wouldn't have made it.

Thanks again to Phil for putting me on the mark.

I was fishing thewre last year and had the same problem, all the big hitters could cast from the backs of their cars up on the Prom but i had to get down on the beach. I do like this mark though and will be back before long.

Its a canny shallow beach but once it fills up its ok don't let that put you off
mate sometime it looks unfishable but an hour later its perfect.

Well done on the cod mate nice sign early codling from the beach.

Thanks lads, that was my first size (only just granted) codling from a beach mark but I am going to stick at it and try to improve. Going to head out this winter every time there's a sea on.
