With a strong SW wind and the sea flatter than Kate Moss's chest I decided against making the 60 mile round trip to Lynemouth and stayed local for a session on the Hall. Given the conditions I wasn't expecting much, sea was like glass so I decided to try a new spot for me fishing in front of the pub (I normally fish up at the end of the prom).
Got to the beach for about 5pm and fished two rods, one at range and the other varied from very close to about 60 yards. Was getting bites straight away on the distance rod then third chuck got my first coalie. And that was the story of the evening - half a dozen coalies, best one going 33cm close in, a couple of Whiting including a canny one of 36cm at maximum range and a Dab which gave a stonking bite from long range (thought it was something better from the bite).
All in all a fun night, plenty of fish to keep the rod tips nodding and exactly as expected species wise. Hopefully we will get a good blow again soon to bring the coddies back in and get away from this scratching fishing.
