Hi all, back from a month long jaunt to Belgium, I need new line suitable for sea fishing as my fave got taken out by a 35lb+ carp over there and snapped :-( where's the best place for cheap line? Budget is peanuts so not looking for anything special...cheers.

Hi m8 i find Rutherfords down Roker spot on for good reliable gear and you get good chat from the guy in there and he is pretty cheap too so good luck to you.:D:D:D:D

If it's cheap your after, try Boyes. Not sure about the quality, mostly Fladen I think but they always have plenty of gear in and it is definitely cheap.
I've only ever bought spinners and daylights from there. Might be worth a look.

In hartlepool you have

John F Gents tackle and guns - In the town more or less opposite the nat west bank on the opposite side of the road.

Pipps - opposite the back entrance/car park to middleton grange, near the old sports bar sort of area.

North East tackle supplies - at the bottom of the bank heading out of hartlepool towards seaton near the reproduction centre and the likes

Friaridge - Headland as per previous posts.

They will all have decent lines and budget lines in store and are fairly helpfull.

I would say save up mate, don't scrimp and scrape on probably the most important part of tackle. I would rather be skint and have good line that will land me my PB fish than have cheap line snap losing my fish, I have seen a few times people losing fish because there line isn't upto the job. ;)

Cheers for all the advice lads. I went to northeast tackle supplies, got what I was looking for at a great price + some good banter. You're right Pete, I got 40lb line so should do the job. Can't wait to get out, had some good carp fishing in Belgium but nothing beats sea fishing.

Just curious mate but if yer can afford to jaunt around europe for a month what's the big deal in spending a few quid on line:confused:

I went out there to work on an estate on the basis id be paid €1000 a month, no contracts or out and tax free, the boss paid me €200 and when I kicked off kicked me out of my accomodation. Luckily I hitched a lift to Brussels from a Belgian family and I got myself home from there. 'Dream job' turned into the biggest nightmare ever, glad to be home.
