Best bet is to have a look on aa autoroute or something of that nature however the 'easy' way to get there which I think is probably the best is as below.
Get onto the A19 south and this will take you most of the way, turn off at wolviston services heading to hartlepool on the A689.
Be carefull as there are hartlepool turnoffs well before this which will take you through the town and are a pain in the backside.
Follow the A689 into hartlepool (about 6 miles) and as you start getting to built up areas you will encounter a couple of sets of traffic lights then a roundabout with a pub on your right called 'the outon lodge', turn right here and continue on this road till you hit the sea front. There is only one roundabout on this road before the front and just head straight over it. Turn right at the sea front and you will pass a handfull of the usual sea front attractions on your right and the beach on your left, continue along the road and you will leave the built up area again quite quickly, about 1 min drive out of the built up area you will see two concrete posts with north gare on them, this is the access to the main car park, take note of the times on the signpost as the gate is often locked and they will lock you in if you stay late. alternative parking is available in the zinc works road a little further along but it means a decent walk to the area most fish for bass.
If that confused you then:
A19 south > off at wolviston heading hartlepool A689 > circa 6 miles to next roundabout > turn right > continue till you see beach > turn right > watch for carpark on your left after couple of mins drive.
Have fun.
