Might sound daft here but here we go, I've got a beachcaster which is made for multiplyers, But I want to put fixed spool on it. I think I'm right in thinking I've got to buy a reel seat?, looked around and there's various sizes. How do I know what size I need?

Cheers people

beachcasters are made for fixed spools and multipliers but fixed spool rods have bigger rod guides from the bottom of your rod upwards and less guides . multipliers are a bit smaller guides and more or maybe someone can quote me if im wrong :D

firstly you can use a FS on a rod rung for a multiplyer, but it wont work to its full capacity, as its is rung wrongly, other way around would work much better.
is there not a reel seat fitted to the rod, if not you have 2 options, 1, measure the butt section acurately OR take the butt section with you to a tackle shop, that way you get the correct one.

If its a decent rod, why not just get it re-rung for a F/S

the spine is on the wrong side of the rod

if ya not bothered about distant, dont worry about it,if ya using fixed spool on multiplyer rings you will only lose about 20 yards,(FACT),and about £50 quid plus to convert it,!!!!

From experience i wouldn't recommend using a multiplier guided rod with a f.spool. The difference is the size of the first rings, for a f.spool they are bigger to accommodate for the way like comes off a fixed spool. When using a f.spool on a rod rung for a multi it can cause all sorts of problems such as tangles, and the worst one the line can be caught on one of the rings and cause some nice damage to them.

But it might be okay mate, you'll have to test it out :)
