hey lads
iv ust baught a 2ed hand rod and ive found that the real seat is glued on, but down at the botom off the rod and i like it higher up the rod.
ive tryed using hot water to softern the glue but it does nothing, and a mate sugested using iordine (nail polish remover) but im not shure what that will do to the carbon....
any idears??

If its fixed with araldite it wont come off! You will need to buy a new seat.

The only way is to split the reelseat, with a junior hacksaw gently cut a spiral around the reelseat being careful not to cut into the blank then peel off with your hands or a pair of pliers.

Its quite an easy job once you get going.

Could you just leave it where it is and use coasters to fix your reel further up?

Have a go at the bottom, you might like it :D

Whitey. the first time I tried casting with the reel down I hated it, but I tried again and started to get the hang of it. I am now fully converted and find it strange casting with the reel up the butt (doesnt quite sound right that does it....lol).

lol
yer ive been trying it with it down the bottom like
its ok but i still like it up the top beta liike
and i have been thinking off buying a new seat and just sliding it down from the top off the blank as it has no eye on it :)
cheers

i have my reel seat down at the bottom i found it strange at frist but now i am used to it. i can cast better with the reel at the bottom of the rod.

ive found that it only goes half what i could cast with the seat higher up the rod,
dno if im doing it wrong or anything like
but a will keep trying anyways
cheers

i cant get far with it at the bottom eaither
phnar phanr lmao

good old finbar saunders and his double entendres
cant beat the viz lol

don't try nail varnish remover. it might get it off but....

contains acetone - the solvent used to used to clean up and dissolve excess resin in fibreglass and carbon fibre construction

can't see it doing the rod any favours
