nowt wrong with the greys 6 mate!! im getting one soon after being recomended it off a very good source
only reason the g mag series have a bad name is because when they get reveiwed by people who think when they get reels to test that after they can keep them! greys dont do that and have peed a few people off in the process
a lot of people try and compare them too abu's or slosh's when they get them aswell! ive heard more good than bad about the g mag series mate

the lad who recomended me to the mag series actually services and converts abu's and slosh's (has his own company)
he uses 2 mag 6's for clean to mixed ground and all he did to the reels was change the bearings on them but thats his preference!

ive got two abu's but will be getting a g mag 6 the first chance i get! plus they dont need that much servicing aswell leaning more towards the slosh in that respect! love me abu's but they do need tlc mate

Well my new set up for this cuming winter iz a century formula fire blad sport with grays g mag 6 my outha set up is a daiwias moon raker wich has jade full rebuild with slosh 30 ;D

AS TITLE SAYS they r a canny real dare say ide have one canny price also but as stated earlier im l/h my reels used at moment r the akios l/h ct version aswell as a couple of abu 7001s verdict akios very verry simular to abu but i think akios better reels p/s the bloke that now works 4 akios used 2 work 4 abu 4 a number of years so i hope you werent WOUND UP to much with my comment tight lines :red::red::red::red::red:

Can't really knock the Greys reel as I've never tried one; but the only possible issue might be getting hold of spares for them in the future, as they were only in production a short time.

was in the same boat as you mate when they first came out but from then have heard very good reports and after the recomendation im off to get one haha!!
very nice reels the akio's bit out of me price range though

ive got an abu 6500 mag elite and a old heavy fixed spool for the rough stuff! for the rods ive got an old shakepear 12ft and an even older hardy 13ft beachy that would pull the plug out of the ocean
also will be getting my abu 6000 from PMR on monday and thats been overhauled and magged up

The G mags are ok for clean ground but won't take heavier ground too well so go easy with it Scotty. The eccentric lever and clutch plate are the parts that go on them. I bought a Six from Ebay sold in not working condition, the ad said it was slipping on the retrieve, so I had it to bits and these were the parts that had worn badly.
As for getting the parts, I sent an email to Greys stating which bits I needed and they got back to me with a price straight away. Cost more in admin and postage than the actual parts cost but I have to say the service was excellent.
I have used it many times and have had no bother with it but I am always wary pulling too hard with it.
The paintwork on the frame flakes off as well for no reason, the one I have has a couple of patches on it. The quick release side plate is excellent on them and the mags are not too bad either.
