Well guys had a feeling the Heugh might have thrown up some big spawning Cod today with the big tides so had a look down. Top dollar bait from John at the Friarage and a canny crowd fishing.
First catch of the day was this little fella.
Then according so some of the guys the dreaded rockling.
The night wore on Codless but with plenty of nice Dabs. Here is a doubler i got towards the end of the night.
No Cod for me and only saw three all night. Biggest about 3lb which dropped off the hook as i was handballing it up the side for Ron. (sorry mate).
All in all a good night. There is loads of cod as one of the lads from the boats was saying he had filled his quota for this month already and is waiting for February. It would appear they are off shore feeding on sprat or sandeel.
