Good report mate. Were they out of the top lakes? I was down there on Saturday too :)[/QUOTE

Cheers it was a canny day abit chilly early on I was on the fly only top lake, have you fished the bottom lake for the specimens yet I was wondering if any good?

Hello Ivan-i know what you man about wedding plans i,m getting wed in may at Protarus in Cyprus-so i,m watching the old pennies.
Looks like you got a good rod there. Airflow is a good make just look at the price of the fly lines.
If you want an airflow floating line the Trout fisherman mag has a canny subscription offer on at the moment with some good looking line.

Not having used a 9 rod do you mind if i ask is it a tad stiff for smaller trout. I have a 6 -7 rod which is good for the reservoirs. Biggest fish caught on it to date is about 3 i/2 pound. I,m no expert with rods and am still learning.
Cheers Mick.

Hello Mick to be honest its just what I'm used too fished 9wt for the last 15yrs or so the thing I like about it is the distance achievable into wind etc I never have a bother with the give in the rod I've tried 7wts and pretty much the same can be achieved its just that when your geared up with lines its alot to fork out.
I see you've just got a greys grxi reel mines the grx and think they are a lovely reel dead smooth.
cheers for the tip off on the line thing I'm havin a prob with my wf floating line its got a hell of a memory so at distance fishing buzzers and sight bobs I'm not in touch enough to pull into a soft take it means i'm jumping backwards like a mad man tryin to take up the slack lol.
I'm gonna look into the subscription that would be great to get a new line its an aiflow ridge I use so maybe the new ones will be better it says they are supple.

Yeah Ive fished the specimen lake quite a bit. I had a 10.5lb first cast on opening day :). Ive had fish up to 13lb down there. Its a totaly different place to the top lakes, it fishes a lot better with natural patterns.

I think we were fishing next to you for a while on Saturday, at the top end of the lake just under the tree?

Hello Pete I was fishing at the top for a while was that you's two fishing on the left of me, then you fished opposite me at the other end I left at 6pm I think you were talkin to a lad about him snapping his loomis not that I was listening lol :D

The bottom lake sounds like its worth a bash sounds good.

Ivan i got the £10 every three months for the year subscription = £40. I can live with that. I find the mag very useful as i am still learning about the whole flyfishing thing.
I cancelled my sea angler mag a few months ago as it was not really telling me much new.
Mick.

Be careful with Airflo floating lines, they have a terrible reputation for having loads of memory (First floating line I bought and it was unusable - commonly known as "Airflop") The newer lines may be better now but once bitten! Their sinking lines do have a good reputation though.

I find it spot on especially for the latest flies etc and little tweaks to do with the latest ways of presentation etc from the comp lads like you say its easy to handle £10 a quarter plus if the line is any good it'll be for nothing:):):)

Cheers Charlie my current wt floater is a ridge line and its cronich for memory and totally useless for buzzer etc but I read the trout mag so the new one might be better its for nowt so worth a try I'll let you know how I get on;)
