Was fishing High Shore last night and my highly tuned sense of perception couldn't fail to notice a great big pussers grey behemoth of a vessel tied up alongside next to the RQ
So I'm at sat there scratching my head as to which vessel it could be:
Not HMS Ocean - too small...anywho it's a Mackem ship
An Amphibious Vessel - arse end too narrow
Now bear in mind I did spend a few years in her majesties service and we did ship recognition etc...I was stumped...it was definitely "Aircrafty" which heaped more frustration on my amateur spotters efforts as I was an Aircraft Mechanic in my time:red:
Turns out it's only the bleeding Flagship of the Royal Navy
:red:
Made me chuckle when I saw the guys and gals coming down the gangplank in their finery to sample the delights of the local area
Anyway - gawd bless 'em and all who sail in 'em
Struck me that it's actually quite small in comparison to modern vessels
