Was very sad to hear about the poor people killed and injured by the terrorists in Kusadasi in Turkey. Swmbo and I will STILL be going to Marmaris in August for three weeks. No way are scum like that going to make me change my plans.
Yvonne tried to ring our agent today about something totally unrelated to the bombing but could not get through. I have no doubt that it was people trying to cancel their holidays.
Looks like it will be a bit quiet this year.
The leader of the PKK was captured a few years ago and is still being held in a Turkish Gaol. They were going to execute him but knew if they did they would never get into Europe. These animals have something to fight for in the belief that he may be released one day.
Couldn\'t happen???? it did in South Africa.

I\'m away to Icmeler in May next year Jim. My mam and Dad have been going to that region fo ryears and can\'t praise the locals enough.
 
Been there 14 times since 1996 Davy and your mam and dad are right. I have allready booked for May and August next year also lol. Going the Whit week. If you are there then I will meet you and buy you a nice cold bottle of Efes mate.
Sixfoot Steve will be there in August so I have no doubt I will have to put me hand in me pocket then lol.

Been to Icmeler seven times myself ,absolutely brilliant ,we\'re off to Tunisia in two weeks and to be honest I wish we\'d booked for Turkey but we fancied a change at the time, still next years hols are booked for Icmeler and yes Jim get ya hand in ya pocket lol .... I\'ll get the whisky (you know how much malt is over there ). Let\'s have a Raki hangover as well eh , Davy you\'ll love it mate.
 
it\'s never as bad as it seems , i done a job in Egypt straight after the Luxor massacre and the locals were heart felt sorry and it was with true feeling . Still felt uncomfortable though being the only white face in thousands while visiting the Mosque on my own in Cairo .
 
I don’t want to take the thread away from turkey, but Dave mentioning being the only white face amongst thousands takes me back to my first trip to the Gambia, there was a full scale riot going on because the local militia had raped this young lass and killed or seriously beat up her boyfriend(never got the right story) anyway I was in this taxi going along the road when thousands of locals came streaming onto the road being chased by soldiers, once they got onto the road I was on they had room to start fighting with the soldiers (anyone remember the soweto riots in the 80s)
Seen people get shot and at this stage I started to get really worried, then they started turning vehicles over and torching them, the taxi got surrounded and I was giving it oh f*ck and the taxi driver must have thought the same as he floored it and managed to get us up a side street and away from the main trouble(think it was a case of protecting his livelihood than me)LoL ,turns out 45 died in that riot.
Getting back to Turkey, with this happening it still didn’t put me off as the people were so friendly(some a bit to friendly and a big stick would sort them ) and I went back again the next year, and will go back in the future. You cant judge a country because a few extremist nutters.
