Had a few hours on the beach this evening. Fished one rod as far as I can cast with pennel rig using runnydown and muscle/prawn and 1 rod close in with a 2 hook flapper with mackeral as bait.
Got a couple of good mackeral straight away on the short rod followed by a double shot of flounders on the long rod, dabs I think. The biggest was 32cm. Lovely clean fish.
I was wishing I had my spinning gear with me, so I thought I would improvise and took the shock leader off my reel and tied a spinner on. My new spinning set up Tip Tornado Match/Slosh20. Was ok & stright into mackeral.
Anyway ended up with 4 flatties, a weaver and a dozen mackeral upto 40cm. An enjoyable few hours and plenty of fish for a change. Freezer stocked up too.
