Well had some bait left and the boys wanted to get out so i decided to hit horden beach for a few hours plenty room for the boys and the nephew to muck about.
Got there for about 12.30pm couldnt get on the beach cause the ramp was too steep so just park on the top level, setup 2 rods century bass rod with mag elite 2 hook up and over distance rig size 1 hooks baited up with ragworm and runnydown, second rod was me tip tornado sport with me 525 supermag 1up 1 down rig size 2 hooks baited with fresh peeler and ragworm tipped with mackrel, was getting a couple of very light bites but couldnt connect so just plodded on with same traces small hooks about 1 hour before high tide come a small plaice followed by another then it went very quiet, so decided to put one rod away and keep me century bass rod out with the mag elite on started using bigger baits aswell 1 up 1 down rig size 1/0 hooks with nice chunky fresh peeler baits nothing was happening so i said right one more chuck casting is coming on leaps now after me broken hand so just went for it OTG cast wack out it went was well pleased with the distance im starting to get again not back to the way i want it but hey one step at a time eh, waited and waited was just about to reel in and pack up bang rod went struck into it i knew this was a better fish got it all the way to the waters edge then it came off was gutted my first ever shore thornback ray about 3lb i got a good look at it before it decided to get away wasnt going to chance just grabbing it gutted i never beached it tho as i would of loved a photo of it but anyways i will try again down there soon very enjoyable day nice to be out.
