Just back from Iceland this morning and still feeling tired. Where do I start. Wow what a fantastic place. Snow in the mountains , lava fields. It's epic to say the least.
Met up with Marty Elliot and Ed at Martys house last Sunday and made the drive to Edinburgh for the flight. Met up with Steve mason who runs Iceland fishing adventures and made the long drive to the west fjords. About 6.5 hours later we arrived at a small fishing village called flateyti. This was to be our home for the next 5 days

Next morning we were up and away out fishing on the local pier and we were in to fish from the very first chuck. Dabs and very big dabs they were aswell most of them 2lb and over. Over the next few days we travelled around and picked away at the different shots but couldn't find the numbers of fish we were hoping for. We did however find one place with some massive coalies so we fished light tackle and small baits for them 1st drop for me and I smashed my personal best with a coalie of 4lb 15oz
Soon after I smashed it again with a fish of 7lb 4oz

A while later we fished a new mark for me and 1st chuck I had a double shot coalie and codling my trace was away up the fjord and in came another PB coalie weighing 8lb 2oz absolutely amazing.
We fished a deep water beach mark and again we just couldn't find numbers of fish but I did manage to bag myself my very 1st starry ray weighing 4lb 2oz I think
The cod were great fun on light tackle aswell with fish up to 7lb Were taken. Soon the 5 days were up and we made the very long journey across to olasfjoudur (dalvik area) to stay in the log cabins. From being up there we knew the fishing would be better and from the off we weren't disappointed cod coalies catfish dabs plaice starry rays we caught them all and in great numbers. Here's one of Martys catfish weighing almost 8lb

We fished a range of different shots and caught fish at them all
A nice double shot for me one at 7.5lb and another weighing 4.5lb
Siglofjoudur threw out some great fish. Over a couple of hours we had over 100 fish most around the 5-6lb bracket and a fair few over that. Here is ed with the only double of the trip at 11lb 2oz

What an amazing place Iceland seems to be we must have caught close to 1000 fish between us and drove over 1000miles aswell the chance to see the midnight sun. We seen humpback whales in the fjord. The trip was epic to say the least. Lots of new PBs for me lots of new fish and also having the pleasure to fish alongside 3 fantastic blokes.
Thanks very much to Steve mason martin Elliot and Ed you's have all made my trip fantastic and I will be back over.
