Hi folks, just back from a flying visit to Iceland with my wife a a few friends. Whilst there I managed to meet up with Steve Mason of Icelandic Fishing Adventures. As the holiday was mainly a family affair I was restricted to a few hours on Sunday morning. We were there from Thursday lunch time till Sunday 2pm. The sun shone brightly for the firdt three days and then the snow returned for my fishing trip. Steve picked me up at 7am and headed off to one of his favourite marks. Arrived and set up tackle, pulley rig with 5/0 pennel. Bait was a combination of nice big lugworm, big mussel and the favourite of the longlining fleet , bluey. It didn't take long to get started with this haddock of about 1.5 lb.

All these fish were caught in a two and a half hour session on the baits mentioned above. I would of loved to stay longer but had a plane to catch. Steve provided the rod and baits and I took along my trusty slosh 30. If anyone is interested in giving it a go you can contact Steve on the link below.

Oops forgot say that all of the fish were returned and swam off even the wolffish with all the blood leaking out of their mouths.

Crackin report mate not bad for 2 hours fishin eh and another doubler:o thats every year for the last three now :)
Dya wreckon we can get davey to change the annual trip from borough head:D:D

Excellent session Marty. That's getting on for 40lb of fish in 2 hrs. Just been watching Henry Gilbey catch an 8lb cod on a spinner from the shore in Norway and "housewifes favourite" John Wilson haul up 40lb cod & coalfish from a Norwegian Fjord. Makes you realise how f*cked up our fisheries are. Chances are in the not too distant future we'll all have to get on a plane or ferry to go sea fishing.

Steve thanks again for the experience, it rounded off a fantastic time in Iceland.

Wallsendo the wolffish took there time in taking the bait but they did give a decent account of themselves when winding in. We were fishing in about 100 foot of water. The only tackle I lost was the hooks that were cut off close to the mouths of the wolfy's when releasing them.
Cheers
Marty
