Ideas for a trip in about a weeks time

I am fancying trying somewhere new to fish next week when i am off work. I live in Consett but dont mind a couple of hours drive.

Has anybody got any ideas where may be worth a shot. Would like a deepwater mark suitable for botom fishing and maybe a bit spinning.

Hopefully maybe species like wrasse, codling, pollack and maybe a doggie or two.

Would possibly be interested inan overnight stay somewhere as well. Anyone know any marks in maybe south east or west scotland and ideas for bait etc?

Head for SW scotland, about a 3 hour drive. The Isle of Whithorn and marks down the mull will offer you all the fish you want.

A decent ordnance survey map will help you out as well.

As for bait, frozen sandeel fished on the bottom will take any amount of dogfish (rather you than me ;) ), whereas floatfishing or spinning them will get you mackerel and pollack. Floatfished ragworm fished close in should get you some wrasse and pollack, Spinning redgills or any rubber eel/worm imitation will also get you some Pollack if they\'re there.

Marks to look for (which are fairly easy to find) are The Isle of whithorn itself (fish the seaward side of the isle), Burrow head (in front of the camp site), Portpatrick (see Alan Charltons review in his pages on here).

If you do look at a map, you\'ll see there are hundreds of marks that can fish.

Have fun

Cheers!

Sounds good. Are any of these marks fairly easy to get too? I dont mind a short walk but no mountain trekking.

Are there any good tackleshops near these marks where i could stock up on the right baits etc?

What about cann reasonably priced bed and breakfasts inn the area?

A lot of questions i know but i havent a clue about that area
