Ok chaps/chapesses, the image hosting appears to be holding together thanks to various bits of sticking plaster and the like. I\'ve been watching the server/error logs so thought a couple of pointers might help anyone not sure on how it all works. Well, there\'s these little gerbils, I say gerbils there more like hamsters really, well. I say hamsters they have long tails so they\'re a bit more like ferrets, no, actaully they\'re not even mammals, anyway they have this magic jam....
ahh that better the Lithium is kicking in again.
If you want to put images in a thread/reply, first thing is get the image on the web somewhere. theres a file uploader at http://nesa.cibs.org.uk from here choose a file that you want to put in a thread and hit the \'get it up\' button..It will take a wee while depending on the size of the file and speed of your connection. on a 56k dial up connection expect a 300k image to take 30-60 seconds. You will get a little confirmation message if its uploaded ok. Your picture is now on \'the web\' so you can put a reference (URL) to it in you message.
the url to each picture you upload will be as follows:
http//nesa.cibs.org.uk/filename
ie a file called P1010015.JPG gets the URL
http://nesa.cibs.org.uk/P1010015.JPG
and so on for each image you post.
ok, back to your new thread/reply. when you are composing your message, theres an icon above the text box you are typing in with a pc screen and a paint pallette. (the right hand icon) Place your cursor to the point in your message where you want the image to appear and the click on this icon. It will put IMG tags into your text. these are enclose in square brackets - [ ] with IMG in the middle of the first one and /IMG in the middle of the second one. Alternatively you can just type the IMG tags by hand not fotgetting to put them in square brackets
In between the pair of tags you need to type the URL of your image as above, so you get a line in your text that will look something like:
repeat this for extra images as need be. and post the message the pics should then be displayed as part of your post.
Ok, if you want to get really clever, you can get the server to resample the images for you as well (make em bigger or smaller) by specifting a size for your images in the first IMG tag. so in your square brackets having IMG=400x300 instead of just IMG will adjust the size of your pic to 400 x 300 pixels - usefull if you don\'t have any paint/photo editing software to change the size yourself.
Hopefully that makes perfect sense (yeah right!)
Now, as for the ferrets with the magic jam, the jam is so magic it can sense things as you are posting images and cause them not to work, to combat this you must roll your left trouser leg up to the knee height and clench a piece of buttered toast (to confuse the jam) between your buttocks whilst posting your messages, oops time for some more medicine

(Ignore the space in bewteen the IMG as If I didn\'t put them there it would run the code on this thread and display the picture rather than just display the code)
