thanks mate, if your targeting cod/codling its best to use a pennel/pulley rig with hook size or around a 3/0 and if you dont like to loose gear go right to the very end of the pier using grip leads as its big tides, when the tide is flooding (coming in ) i like to cast towards the south pier basically the river mouth, and when the tide is ebbing (going out) i like fishing off the front or the N/E side of the roundhead but its down to personal prefrence of course. the end of the pier does throw up good bags of fish and some big fish in the right conditions e.g whe the sea is big or when its dropping off i think its best to fish the end the first 2 hours of the flood and the last 2 but everyone had different oppinions. hope this has helped if you have any questions about the snaggy areas of the pier feel free to ask.
regards arran.
