Had abit of bait left so armed with about a bag of rag, 8 lug, 2 crab and some mackerel i headed down inter paints for two hours last night over high water. Fished the normal 2 hook flapper rig with size 1/0 hooks, i find anything smaller and you get the pin head whiting that seem to live 12 months of the year in the upper Tyne and anything larger you dont get the flounder as much.
Anyway with 2 rods in 2 hours using 2 hooks i ended up with 4 whiting around 8oz-1lb, 2 flounder biggest not far off 2lb in fact and 1 small codling around the 1lb mark, as per everything went back and i gave the grabs a good feed with the left over mackerel strip.
Apart from the codling and 1 whiting everything was caught on mackerel tipped with about 1" of rag, it was a smallish tide so holding bottom was no problem.
