Inter paints

Had abit of bait left so armed with about a bag of rag, 8 lug, 2 crab and some mackerel i headed down inter paints for two hours last night over high water. Fished the normal 2 hook flapper rig with size 1/0 hooks, i find anything smaller and you get the pin head whiting that seem to live 12 months of the year in the upper Tyne and anything larger you dont get the flounder as much.

Anyway with 2 rods in 2 hours using 2 hooks i ended up with 4 whiting around 8oz-1lb, 2 flounder biggest not far off 2lb in fact and 1 small codling around the 1lb mark, as per everything went back and i gave the grabs a good feed with the left over mackerel strip.

Apart from the codling and 1 whiting everything was caught on mackerel tipped with about 1" of rag, it was a smallish tide so holding bottom was no problem.

Sorry for the late reply...yes the large stone is still there and the pot holes are much worse now but it’s not a bad spot for fishing, just a shame you can’t fish out the boot of your car like you used to.

I think that stone was put there after that couple crashed the car into the Tyne and died.It was always a good flounder mark as well has turning up the odd codling and good sized whiting.

If anyone is crabbing then the tide during the week will be perfect down there for crabbing on the small beach/mud around the corner from the paint factory. I used to get some very good crabs from that mark and no one has tyres down that way as you can only get on on very small tides.

WARNING it is mud so be carefull you dont get stuck.

rich im pretty sure somebody has tyres down by the paints itself [ ours are a little further down ]
never fished down the paints for awhile now were allways just by the albion pub incase we need refreshments lol

Yer things might have changed, its been 2 years since i crabbed down that way. I remember an old carpet last time i was crabbing, lifted it out of the mud and must have bagged about 30 peelers from under it...gold mine :)

yes rich that magic carpet lol ,
went down the paints the night for some water 4 my crabs and not a single person fishing and its a pity about them stones being put there was easy access to those who like to fish from the comfort of the car ie the slightly disabled
