Have to agree, but then I'm the sort of sad individual that puts proper punctuation including apostrophes in text messages :red::yltype:

Sign of the times Tony, its the way language is heading. What do you do ? Well I accept it but am not keen!!!!!! We have to communicate to each other.

Times have changed Tony. Back in my junior school back in the early sixties if you spelt a word incorrectly you got "six of the best". Got strapped and it hurt.

Spelling in not taught properly to the kids these days so they get lazy. Its not their fault, its the system. Its the kids I feel sorry for. They cannot put proper sentences together and my mate who works in HR(Personnel to us old guys) has actually had job applications in text talk :-O now how stupid or misguided were those kids.

Well any young ones want to to respond to this and what do you think about it? Replying in text talk is not KOOL. It will just show you up. Really have a go to respond in proper English and check your spelling first. This is not a PSIS take from me by the way,its just the way we seem to be heading.

An idea young ones. Give two responses

A in mumbo text

B in proper English if you can.

Tony will give you marks out of ten

Go for it

John

John,

Missing spaces before/after punctuation marks, erroneous spaces, 'in' instead of 'is', 'COOL' not 'KOOL', missing colon, missing full-stops.

7/10, Good Effort but no gold star!

:D :D

Nice thread, I also can't stand text talk and like the rest of you it puts me off reading the post! Maybe I am just getting old though!!

Fair enough but what about using text in the Geordie vernacular?

Nearly all my txting on the mobile is done in this manner, wor young un does it and so does wor lass, and that:)All me mates de it inal!
Wonder what members from outwith the locale mek of it,me:D

Another thing ( might be a mod. thingo ) but long and I mean looong threads or replies ,some are really indepth and interesting ...others can be hard work .I understand that everyone has a point to make and we all have a way to make it .

For instance when I get a text joke I read it if it's relatively short ,but if it's long and drawn out I do tend to dismiss it.

Forums are a strange thing ,I tend to hit and move on where posting is concerned ,others obviously have a more laboured point to make ,which is fine , some have more enthusiasm (than me at the moment due to work commitments ) .

All that said , NESA is a great site and forum which has helped so many and brought friends together ( I'm in that category ) .

So to sum up ,I guess we have to live with (do a degree :D ) with the younguns who type differently to us oldies :cool: ,not that I'm old or owt like hinny !!;)

long replies are ok but it's the ones that have no punctuation or paragraphs

for example if I was to break down your reply Steve as an example of above it would read like this:

Now that IS hard work to read!
