Have some time off in July and am trying to sort out a couple of days fishing. Went to the Mull last year, but fancy somewhere different this year. Does anyone have any info and tips on fishing the Isle of Whithorn, tackle, tactics etc? Cheers.

Doggie city

Doggie city

Over there myself next month. hope its better than last year with the cold spring it was slow to get going. Its doggy city mate. the area to the left of the village is deep with loads of dogs. mainly clean bottom. all baits will catch. Infront of the harbour is good for wrasse mainly on worm baits. there should be mackeral from most deep water marks. the area around borrowhead caravan site will produce doggies on bait, along with pollock and mackies on the spinners, feathers and float. Further afield the beach at monrieth can produce some nice bass given the right conditions and if the sea is rough try the harbour at wigtown for flounders.

I fished there during easter..from the stone jetty in the harbour i had dogfish, pollock and codling..if you walk past the steampacket pub past the jetty and up onto the hill i fished behind the white monument on a flat ledge straigh down the side and had corkwing and ballan wrasse but as said there should be mackerel there soon enough and pollock etc in greater numbers

Many thanks for the info Chaps. I'll stick a detailed report on once I've been. Tight lines
