was there myself a couple of weeks ago. not a lot happening. was there at high tide got a few small pollock on the float but not much else. no mackeral however later on that evening near low water they were there. very snaggy but deep right in front of you off the rocks so always a chance of a decent fish. watch out for all the lobster pots they everywhere
look forward to the report on return
Just got back from a cracking weekend. Unfortunately the fishing wasn't the best but but the weather was fantastic (too hot yesterday) we fished from 7am just off the rocks at the campsite at Burrahead Holiday park. Low water up over had a few small pollock after a few casts then 1 mackerel then nothing for a few an hour or so so we started rock hopping & found a nice comfy rock to fish the rest of the flood. I ended up with about 10+ small pollock biggest scraping 1lb and about half a dozen mackerel. Devestated as lost my 1st ever bass right at the side guessing about 1.5lb-2lb :-( went back to the campsite to chill for a bit then headed down to Monreith Beech at about 7.30pm no knowing what to expect. Withing seconds of casting into about 2feet of water doggy after doggy so was abit sport for a while to they became a pest.
Today we managed a few pollock and wrasse but not much at all for the few hours we fished. However it's better than being at work & can't wait to go back
Ohh & we disnt find the pots an issue right in front of the campsite down the middle Path as they were about 200+yards out but If we had ventured left of the mini bay or right they were about 75yards out
Agreed Davyred however I don't thing you need an OS map as you can come across some cracking marks by just adventuring around! However, I've heard Thier is a bible "fishing mark book" for S.W scotland and it advises on all marks. What baits etc etc. I need that bible
