Can anyone help me and tell me how I can copy my itunes library from my old PC onto a new laptop using external hard drive. efforts so far have just exported the text but not the music files. Don't fancy loading 9 days of cds one by one :hallucine:

Actually mate i remember...

Open iTunes Preferences:
Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
Click Advanced.

Make sure the option to "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" is selected.

Click OK.

Choose File > Library > Organize Library.
Select the option to "Consolidate files."

Click OK.

Then when finished, go back into the advanced tab where it says itunes media folder location it should have a location. Click start, then run and type that location in. It will bring up the folder containing your entire itunes library. And you can copy it to an external hard-drive :)

Cheers I'll give that a go in the next couple of days when I get a chance. Some of it was copied from the CD onto itunes, some imported from media centre so a bit of a mix.

Thanks for the reply

I would also reconmend everyone who uses itunes to do this, as anyone will know when you move music itunes cant find it then you have to locate it again. By doing this itunes will allways know where the music is and you are less likely to move this folder as its stored C:ProgramFiles/itunes :)
