Can one of you fine chaps tell me how to join mono backing to braided line ,I\'ve done it before but it\'s been a long time and buggered if I can remember , thanks in advance ,Steve.
the belt and braces approach is to melt the end of the mono with a lighter, and while it is still molten, press it against a cold metal surface, flattens the melted mono so it looks like a nail head, so even if the braid slips a bit, it is held by the \'nail head\' on the mono

try going to roger bayzand site www.seafishinginfo.co.uk go to tips section on the left and click on knots there is a braid to nylon knot at the bottom of the page. I use this knot all the time for leaders to braid etc and have not had one fail on me yet.

Sounds simple Norman ,I\'ll be putting line on my new reel tomorrow ..... WAHOO
I tried to explain the feeling of excitement and anticipation of setting off to the lads at work today ..philistines lol .
Aye steve, every time is different and they all have their high points , but without doubt the best is escaping out through the piers at 4.00 am when the sun is just poking over the horizon in front of you ............. just class ......... (of course bert and the shady crew are alway already just out their off the north pier flexing their fresh crab )
Double uni knot that is very hard to tie when sitting comfortably in ones favorite chair at home with ones feet elevated and enwrapped in burberry slippers. If I loose the leader at sea then I tie a huge \"forget me knot\" around a swivel
