Well recently theres been quite alot of sprat and lesser sandeel around in some places, and the Launce (greater sandeel) are usually the first on the scene to take advantage and gorge themselves on small sandeel and sprat.
Once this sea dies down and given some calm and nice sunny days afterwards, I'd say it would be well worth a try for them, they've been caught this early before.
Best catches I've had have been on very small Sabiki/Shrimp daylite type traces with size 4 to 7 hooks, with a small spinner as a weight.
Good luck and hope this info helps you catch some buddy.
