Straight out to a close in wreck about 9am. Tried drifting over the wreck, but even with a drogue out, still a touch too quick, so anchored over the wreck and was straight into a 2lb codling, then a 1.1/4 pouting. Got 5 fish off there, best about 3lb and 3 lip hooked codling all around the 1lb+ mark returned to fight on.
Then had an hour near the yellow can and picked up another 2 codling about 2lb+ but pretty slow as the flood tide picked up to a good speed, so called it a day. Saw Norm and Tony on Slinky Kate, they said it was a better day further off, but not much out there at the moment. Was watching another boat drift fishing in a fast drift, it was Richy and crew on Stingray, everyone enjoying what was a nice day at sea.
Couple of pics.

We were using frozen crab, rag, mussel and runnydown, but does'nt matter what you're using if there's no fish there. Did you see any shoals of sprat on the sounder, we did, little buggers..:(

Well done Arthur, you’ve seen more fish than all the other boats put together.

I wonder if you fishing at anchor in the big tides made the difference? If the fish are already stuffed with small sprat and sand eels they may not bother to chase a moving bait but will scavenge if there’s one tethered in front of them.

Cheers Kev1n, I always think that at this time of year with the water vis poor, if your at anchor and a couple of baited hooks sending out a strong scent trail, the fish will follow it back to your hook.
Imagine your hungry, and walking down the high street, you get a whiff of an Indian restaurant, you can make a be-line straight to it, but if it were on the move, you'd have a much harder time trying to locate it.:D

I have to say Chris, there were no sandeels in their stomachs, in fact some were totaly empty, others had squat lobsters in them.
