i was thinking about buying the LED lenser for about £50 they are very bright at 160 lumens and i have seen good reviews.

I searched the internet for any similar headlamps and i found the "ZOOMABLE 5W CREE Q5 LED HEADLAMP" they are 300 lumens and are only £13 with postage from Hong Kong and look almost identical to the lenser and include 2 x Li-ion batteries and a charger, i have ordered one and if it arrives, i will post a review when i have tried it.

Got one of the cheaper crees last year one with the 3aaa batteries cleaned it and stored it away for the summer was out last friday its working no problem giving good beam etc, was lookin for another so ive bought one of these today after seeing this thread

I have one and they are very good. Might not last as long as the
cheaper one that takes the 3 AAA size battery's but you do get
2 good trips out of the battery plus its rechargeable and the fit
on your head is spot on.

ZOOMABLE 5W CREE Q5 LED HEADLAMP FLASHLIGHT +18650 +CH on eBay (end time 30-Sep-10 05:35:55 BST)

Will give this light 5 out of 5 and a big :thumbup:

I must say they look a lot better. I bought one of the cheaper ones in this thread last year. After just one or two uses the lense kept flopping down due to its weight + batteries in the front and also due a poor quality ratchet mechanism that was just not up to the task. I have the lenser 7HR and find it brilliant. This looks like a good backup.
I have tried the 300lm cheapo and the lenser side by side last year and I think the 300lm claim is a bit far fetched.
I still prefer the more natural light from my Tiga but its too cumbersome in comparison.

do u have to go through all the modes to switch them on and off or they like a lenser on - off and zoom wen you want if you no wot i mean some ov the cheaper lamps you got to go through the low beem then the high beem the flashing to turn them off

arrived

arrived

my ZOOMABLE 5W CREE Q5 LED HEADLAMP FLASHLIGHT +18650 +CH arrived on Tuesday from Hong Kong (9 days) i am very impressed. they are very bright have a good spot that will easily zoom out into the surf when retrieving.

It is supplied with 2 x 3.7 volt 240 mAh batteries (like a bigger version of AA batteries) and you only put one at a time in the lamp.

For £13.68 including postage, you really can't go wrong.

Now i know how good they are i will order a couple more as spares
