Been along today to spend some birthday pennies in advance. Wanted a spinning rod that could throw something lighter than my usual mackeral spinners in order to try off the rock edges for spikey silver things and owt else - current rod was too stiff for lighter lures. Wasn't intended to be a regular thing so I gave myself a tight budget but got sorted with a nice 15gm-50gm casting weight rod and reel combo - Ron Thompson Power Wind 2.7mtr rod and Okuma Razor 60 reel with one loaded spool and one spare. Picked up a couple of surface poppers, bag of lead-heads and some jelly worms and spent less than I've found them for online so well chuffed. Nice advice and no attempt to hard sell me on more expensive gear which makes a nice change. Missus has said I can't play with them until my birthday at the weekend though - spoilsport that she is.
